TAK-tenna
20 on balcony @ KD4HGR, Ricky
I WOULD BUY THIS ANTENNA FOR THE
OTHER BANDS AS WELL..ITS GOT GREAT RECEIVE. WITH VERY
LOW NOISE LEVELS & I GET VERY GOOD SIGNAL REPORTS..
I ALSO USE THIS QUITE A BIT ON THE
14.300 NETS AS WELL.
THE BUILDING DOES HAMPER IT A LITTLE
DUE THE REBAR
IN THE WALLS.. BUT I CAN NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE OVERALL PERFORMANCE AS YOU
SEE P.R. IS DUE SOUTH OF ME AND THAT IS THE SIDE WHERE THE BUILDING
WALL IS AGAINST THE ANTENNA..
I TUNED THIS WITH AN MFJ-259B ANTENNA
ANALYZER TO 14.300 AND HAVE BEEN USING NO TUNER SINCE...IF YOU BUY ONE OF THESE
GET AN ANALYZER TO SET IT UP..IT TOOK LONGER TO BUILD
THE ANTENNA THAN IT DID TO TUNE IT WITH THE ANALYZER...
I ALSO SHOULD TELL EVERYONE I LIVE
IN A CONDO THAT IS A 2 STORY BUILDING AND I AM ON THE TOP FLOOR AND MY PATIO IS
ONLY 3 FEET WIDE AND 36 FEET LONG....THANKS AND 73'S RICK EATON ( KD4HGR )
HERE ARE A FEW OF THE CONFIRMED QSL's I HAVE MADE
THIS IS JUST A FEW OF MY CONTACTS
FROM THIS ANTENNA AS IT IS IN THE PICTURE...

TAK-tenna 40 Vertical
on 3rd story balcony at
S52CC, Vince in
My Tak-tenna
protrudes from a 4th level balcony 11 meters off the ground, with one more
story and the attic above, and massive reinforced concrete walls shielding the
NW direction.
With the MFJ-949E it
tunes fine on 8 bands from 80 through 10 meters.
Using the Yaesu FT-450 transceiver I made 925 QSOs
and logged 118 DXCC entities from 5 continents, some of them even in serious
pile-ups.
Most of contacts were
made on 40 and 20 m, but all bands are represented.
And as everybody knows
the propagation conditions in past months were really not the best.
After four months with
quite good results in horizontal position I turned the antenna into vertical
position, the reports from North American station improved for 2 to 3 S points,
and I have it positioned this way now.
Below is TAK-tenna 40 horizontal at
